![]() In 2019, fans of the aging app feared that MS Paint would be discontinued by Microsoft in the planned Windupdate. It introduced huge numbers of people to painting on a computer for the first time. Like the other textures they are black and white BMP files. Thanks to its simplicity and ease of use, and the fact that it was bundled with every Windows machine, Paint rapidly became one of the most used apps in the early versions of Windows. Last but not least is the scatter folder, which has brush textures and INI files for scattering shapes. ![]() These can be used to set a texture for a whole layer, or folder. After that is the papertex folder, which has layer paper textures in it. In there are brush textures that can be applied to brushes, They are black and white BMP images, though if used too much the art can look like a pattern. if you open the INI file, it contains instructions on how to make them. Each shape requires a black and white BMP and an INI file containing information about the texture preset. ![]() The brshape folder contains scattering shapes for normal brushes. These textures are probably easiest to make. Each black dot is like a single hair of a bristle on a paintbrush. They can only have 63 (or was it 64?) black dots on them. They are images with a circle drawn in them with black dots inside. The bristle folder is where you will find all the bristle maps. Blotmaps are black and white BMP images that are used for changing the shape of the brush. The brushfom folder has 3 folders in it, called blotmap, bristle, and brshape. If you look in the settings folder, the folders used for textures are: brushfom, brushtex, papertex, and scatter. Textures come in a few types, and some aren't even for brushes. In the location \SYSTEMAX Software Development\SAIv2, that is where brush textures, settings etc are held.
